From my series of paintings of people of Nepal.

This artwork was created with the intention to help these people .

The subject:
A young woman about to lift a heavy load in the mountains of Nepal.
Her expression of long suffering at having her photo taken - rather than the weight of the load, is etched on her face.

I love working in pastels for my figures and portraits as it creates a luminosity and an instant colour 'fix' which I don't get from other mediums.

I hope this conveys the stoic nature of these people, living and working in such harsh conditions.

Please note: 10% of this sale will go to the Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund quake fund by Global Giving or to World Vision to help the people of Nepal. (receipt provided)

As a series of paintings to which I have a strong personal attachment, the originals remain in my personal collection, though I am now making available in a canvas limited edition of #40.
